** The need for church security teams are a very sensitive issue in churches. There are so many variables involved in this process. Some churches use members that are retired or current Law Enforcement Officers. Some use ushers. Before embarking on a security team, please consider this very carefully. Due to the complexity of laws and ordinances, your security team may not be legal and may actually give you more exposure to liability. (In some states a “security” team must be licensed, even if they work in the church. In others jurisdictions it is not legal for off duty law enforcement to work as security.) Is your church licensed properly? Whose insurance cover off duty law enforcement officers?
